Surgical Care
Your pet is your best friend and he or she deserves the best surgical care available. Hill Country Animal Hospital utilizes the latest veterinary surgical technology in order to provide state-of-the-art care for your pet. We use advanced laser surgery and cutting-egde monitoring techniques to ensure your pet's surgery is safe, comfortable and as stress-free as possible.
Laser Surgery
Hill Country Animal Hospital employs laser surgery for many surgical procedures. Laser surgery has many benefits for your pet. Compared to surgical procedures that use a scalpel, laser surgery causes less bleeding and tissue damage. In addition, the laser seals nerve endings as it cuts, reducing swelling and post-surgical discomfort. Laser surgery allows your pet to recover more quickly from surgical procedures and improves the quality of life for both you and your pet.
Surgical Procedures
Our hospital offers a wide range of surgical services, from basic spays and neuters to sophisticated general and orthopedic surgery. Dr. Kruse has many years experience performing general surgery and orthopedic procedures such as anterior cruciate ligament repair, luxating patella repair and life-saving limb amputations.
Before Surgery
Prior to your pet's surgical procedure, we perform a complete physical examination and conduct a blood tests in order to detect any pre-existing conditions that might affect the use of anesthesia on your pet. All pets respond differently to anesthesia, and pre-existing health conditions can complicate how your pet responds.
During Surgery
Your pet is monitored closely during all surgical procedures. Your pet is kept warm and comfortable during surgery and a trained veterinary technician is on hand to assist with the procedure and further monitor your pet's condition. We strive for safety during surgery and a comfortable, painless hospital stay.
After Surgery
We strive to make your pet's surgical procedure as comfortable and stress free as possible. We recognize that your pet may experience some pain after surgery. Pain management is an important part of our intra- and post-operative surgical protocol. We provide your pet with pain management medication following surgery. At discharge, you may also receive some pain medication to give to your pet at home.
